The History Of Star Trek PC Gaming

Overview

The Star Trek gaming franchise has been going on for more than a decade, like other full game franchises it has had it's up's and down's. However from 2003 it seems that the down's are outweighing the up's.

The purpose of this history section of the STG main site is to track the event's which shaped the major 3 worlds of Star Trek gaming, from the games themselves to the modding and clan world's each section of the gaming worlds intertwine and mix with each other and have ultimately shaped the course of trek gaming's long and winding road to the present day.

It will start at the beginning with the first true PC Franchise game, Star Trek 25th Anniversary and "end" with the rumours of the new strategy game and the hype surrounding the new MMORPG due for release in 2008.

This is a big undertaking for one single person to undertake, all the knowledge of Star Trek gaming from 1993 up till now is in the vaults of the old Star Trek Clan Directory site which has been zipped up and burned onto a couple of CD's years ago. Untangling those vaults will take a lot of time, and since there is over 10,00 word documents charting the history of trek gaming it's going to take a lot just to take the juicy bit's out and transfer it to here.

It won't be an overly long history lesson either, I know a lot of people who visit the site are wanting a good read, but not something the length of War & Peace :)

This will be an on going project with parts added as the weeks go on...
