Starting A Clan
A comprehensive guide by the staff of the STG...

The Weekly Clan Founding Plan...

Pre Founding | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4

Week 1 - The launch of your clan

So, you've went through the pre founding stage and you are now ready to officially launch your clan...but where do you start?

Well, normally the best place is to announce it in a place where most clans go...here. Use the General Clan News page in the STG and announce the opening of the clan, then use the New Clan Focus page. In the first day of the opening of your clan you need to decide what form of ruling you will use for it. What follows is a comprehensive list of differing types of clan governing and there highs and low's...

DESPOT....
One leader...leader has total control of the entire clan...works for small clans, not for big ones...

FEUDAL...
One main leader...with 2 to 4 co-leaders, the co-leaders make the small decisions but these decisions can be over ruled by the main leader...the main leader can hire and fire any co-leaders he/she wants...

TOTALITARIAN...
2 main leaders...both leaders have a say, no co-leaders...but a member of a clan can challenge one of the leaders for position...

COMMUNISTIC...
1 leader...with a 'committee'. The main leader makes all the big decisions and can overrule any decisions that the committee makes. The main leader can hire and fire members of the committee, but the committee can oust a leader of a clan under this style...as long as ALL the leaders agree to do it. However...normally under this kind of system of clan power base the old leader starts a civil war inside the clan...and large amounts of member break away to form another clan...something similar happened to UA...although it wasn't as drastic and UA were more republican based...

REPUBLICAN...
1 (or 2) leaders...voted in by an existing committee, this leader is like the US president...he can give the members of the clan ideas...but those ideas have to be passed by the committee...the committee for this kind of clan is usually made up of representatives of the different divisions, either voted in by the division members, or they are already leaders and co-leaders in an existing power structure...
Committees for a republican style of structure usually has more power than the president, and can put a vote of no confidence in for the president of the clan...if the MAJORITY wins the president has to stand down and a new one is voted in...a lot of clans work this way now...

RANKED REPUBLICAN...
This is now starting to become the favoured power structure in a lot of clans. Based on the Republican style of government but the different ranks of the clan structure has differing degrees of power.

DEMOCRATIC...
This kind of structure takes a long while to set in...the membership of the clan (not the leaders) have overall power. 1 leader is voted by THE ENTIRE MEMBERSHIP. Then the ENTIRE membership picks 5 to 10 people to represent them in the 'congress'. These congressmen are the direct link from the president to the clan members, if the clan members don't like something, they tell their congress person...who then passes the info to the president...who then calls a meeting of the congress to discuss this issue...every 5 to 6 months a vote is held for the presidential elections, then after that the congress elections are held...
Under a democratic clan no one person has overall rule and the members have their say...a bit like a republican clan, but much harder to run...but with a democratic clan the members are ALWAYS happy....

Once you have sorted out the governing of the Clan you need to start working on the clans foundation's. There is 2 ways to do this, and its best to use these 2 ways at the same time. First of all get your site completely online, no dead links, no half done content, and then get your forums up and running. Next you need to get into the games you play and start chatting with the other clans in the game. No doubt you will end up coming across some clans who will look at your tags and start asking a LOT of questions, to make life more simple direct them to your site and your website will answer all those questions for you. Another way to start building your clan foundations is to continue with diplomatic ties as layed out in the pre founding process. Visit other clans forums and let them know you have started.

At the end of the first week you should have started to at least get into the rhythm of a way a clan acts and runs...the following week is when the interesting things start to happen.
