**Warning and apology... this is long** To all allies and friends of SFC and her people: The person known as Unimatrix0of1 (aka Admiral Scorpian, aka warpig)was removed from his position in SFC by a majority emergency vote on 3/31/2005 late in the evening. That night and the following day we shifted SFC's site from the controlling influence of the above mentioned individual since in the past any attempts to remove him from the administrative powers he held had been met with open hostility and loss of service for the entire fleet for times ranging from minutes up to 18 hours or more. Unitmatrix0of1 was one of the people that started SFC when it broke away from SF nearly four years ago. After approximately a year of service as SFC's Fleet Admiral and CnC, Unimatrix0of1 was found to be acting in a personal interest alone, making potentially harmful decisions without the consent of his Joint Chiefs (the equivalent to the current Command Council) and acting in a manner which could have potentially destroyed SFC. Unimatrix0of1 was deposed as CnC of SFC and was considered for forced retirement. Upon his pleas, the current CnC, Commodore Orthae and his XO, Admiral Teknochip, along with the remainder of the Joint Chiefs agreed to allow Unimatrix0of1 to remain provided he took a break from command and took a lesser role in the fleet from that point on. The vote was made in secret, on GSA, so Unimatrix0of1 would not shut the boards down. Over the following few months, Unimatrix0of1 showed no sign of lessening his bids for power within SFC, undermining the Joint Chiefs and acting independantly any time he felt he could state that he was acting in the best interest of the fleet. This causes many rifts between the Joint Chiefs and mid to lower ranked officers who recognized this and were angry for the Joint Chiefs' apparent lack of concern over the actions of one of their own. A group of experienced officers splintered from SFC and created RFA, taking a lot of Academy personnel and some junior officers with them after a heated argument with Unimatrix0of1 which resulted in the banning of several of these members from the boards which SFC used for their communications. The RFA split caused a rift in the Joint Chiefs and several members wanted Unimatrix0of1 to resign completely as did more than a few of the remaining members of the fleet. Unimatrix0of1 remained and SFC attempted to rebuild. SFC never fully recovered from the loss of these members and the strain on the current CnC and his XO was great. Orthae did not feel Unimatrix0of1 should remain a member of the Joint Chiefs but was unwilling to say much in the way of arguments. He tried to focus on rebuilding SFC and recovering from the losses she had suffered. Unimatrix0of1 had also taken over as head of JAG sometime within this period. Eventually the CnC was pushed to a point that he could no longer stand. A fight had broken out in the fleet between Princess Chibi and Unimatrix0of1 inside JAG. Chibi was loosing her fight and pressure was on the CnC to boot her out of SFC. The CnC could find nothing in the regulations allowing him to do that without violating the very regulations that he was trying to uphold so he refused. Most of the pressure was coming from Unimatrix0of1, who as Commander of JAG was quoted as saying he was the real power behind SFC and he had more power than any of the Joint Chiefs. The pressure finally became too much and the CnC, his XO, and a few other members retired and created DEN. DEN did not survive longer than six months and the CnC and most of the officers that left were approached by Unimatrix0of1 talking about merging the two clans so we would not have to reapply for admission. Assurances were made and DEN accepted and disbanded in hopes of merging with SFC. What happened next is unknown and does not really matter, but suffice it to say, all returning members from DEN had to reapply and suffer rank reductions and other humilations. During that time in SFC, another schism was occuring. Reaper and Spinal were having issues with Unimatrix0of1 and some other members. Accusations of rights being abused in SFC controlled servers as well as on the forums were flying and it seemed inevitable that another spit would occur. One did. SOAR formed under the leadership of Reaper and Spinal, leaving SFC without a fleet XO and almost destroying an entire division by emptying it. Many loyalties were stretched and members who we thought would stay left. Unimatrix0of1, acting under the umbrella of Security that he inherited from Spinal, started acting against those he felt were being disruptive. Several people were banned from SFC's servers and boards, including a few that had nothing to do with the initial SOAR split. Those people later joined rival clans or returned once more. A new command council had to be formed since there were now several vacancies. A new fleet XO was eventually voted on by the fleet. Jammers as the CnC after Orthae had considerred resigning but changed his mind, wanting to see SFC rebuild once more. Since SOAR's split, Unimatrix0of1 has been the subject of several investigations involving misconduct. During this time members of the forums, not necessarily members of SFC decided to speak up against Unimatrix0of1 in a manner which they thought was appropriate, but he thought was an attack on him. These conversations some times resulted in CC members replying or even the conversations concerning his removal or suspension spilled into the CC's private forums. During these conversations the boards went down. Unimatrix0of1 more often than not blamed these outages and the ensuing holes in the forum database entries on the hosting service. The CC members began to fear speaking out against him since we had no place to direct the fleet should the forums be lost to us. It is noteworthy to mention that during this time as well, certain members of the CC became inactive in the games they played when they joined SFC. As time went by and we grew older (the average age of a CC member was 29, with several members in their mid 30s) we had more RL responsibilities. Some of us became more mired in the administration of the forums. This rise in inactivity caused Unimatrix0of1 to openly attack members of the CC on the forums for their inactivity claiming that the fleet members were the ones raising concern. The CC, trying to do what was best for the fleet decided to talk. It was found out that while Unimatrix0of1 was indeed playing games more than any other two CC members, he was also playing a game that was not supported by SFC even as a secondary game, but had several SFC members playing. The website and the forums began to suffer from lack of forum activity with the CC members playing games and nobody updating information. The fights also continued even after some CC members starting posting battle reports although it is clearly stated that no member over the rank of captain must write such reports. The CC tried to get in on things, but Unimatrix0of1 began another argument. This one was concerning the Team Speak program and our lack of zealously wanting to use it for a primary means of communication within the fleet. Arguments such as this continued with Unimatrix0of1 wanting the current leadership of SFC to stand aside. Durning one such instance, Unimatrix0of1 banned (or as he put suspended) the fleet XO, Lord^Bagg^ for an unfounded claim of double-clanning. That charge was cleared and the XO's rights were returned. Shortly after that, the CnC went on leave for 2 weeks and the XO went away for 4 days. During that time, Unimatrix0of1 removed their access and moved for a vote of no confidence in the in the CC main forums. Bomberman, acting CnC in their absence, asked and then ordered Unimatrix0of1 to return their access. The order was refused and then when Bomberman told Unimatrix0of1 that he was suspended, Unimatrix0of1 responded by suspending him. This prompted several other fleet members to try and get involved in the arguments. They were rewarded by having their posts moved out of site and one even had a resignation approved without consent of the CnC or XO who are the only ones allowed to do so. This action and the previous actions of Unimatrix0of1 (moving posts, taking down the boards) and threats that if there was an attempt to remove him he would take down SFC's boards prompted the CC online at the time to make an emergency decision in an attempt to keep SFC alive. They voted off of the boards to have Unimatrix0of1 removed from the fleet for his actions of sedition and treason against the current SFC leadership and his actions against the fleet which threatened to rip it apart once more. The decision was also made to move to a new forum site believing that Unimatrix0of1 would remove access to the boards and then the boards themselves. This was a wise decision for before long the old SFC site was down. A few days later, Unimatrix0of1 brought the boards back up and has been levelling threats at the current SFC leadership since then. He has gone far enough to actually post the discharge of the current leadership minus two members and a couple other members of SFC for acts of treason and sedition. Now, I call to all supporters of SFC to not let this stand. Unimatrix0of1 is not SFC. SFC is her people. He may own the domain name, pay for the site and have re-engineered graphics to serve as logos and the such, but he is not SFC. We continue on at our new site and still use the SFC tag and will not stop using them. We are asking for your support in this matter, when it matters the most to us. I know some of you or even a lot of you consider Unimatrix0of1 a friend and we are not asking you to destroy that friendship. We would like to remain his friends as well, but we know he needs help. He needs to unplug from his computer and live a little. SFC is more than just him. Thank you. |
