STGU Hacked?

I know this site has had dealings with STGU, but I don't think anyone wants someone to be hacked. Well, from the looks of it that might be so. I just went there surfing around and I got a shock when I seen it.

yeah, it's fixed now.. but from what I learned the entire server was hacked. nasty little worm.

the bug that it exploits is actually a phpbb exploit, now stgu is a vBulletin, not phpBB, but the exploit attacks the entire server, once it has found an in, in other words if there is a vunerable phpBB on the system, watch out.

Never you all worry, STGD is alrerady running the fixed version of phpBB that is not vunerable to this exploit which was released in November.

For any of you who run phpBB on your servers, make absolutely sure you are running phpBB 2.0.11, if you are using 2.0.10 or earlier, you are practically begging to be hacked, and this worm does not discriminate, it just attacks all phpBBs it can find.

That is a different kind of board and Victor having gone through it once won't let it happen again  my phpbb board should be safe as it is being hosted on safe server.

if your phpBB board is not at least 2.0.11 then it is NOT safe, no matter how safe the server.

I repeat, STGU was not attacked THROGUH STGU but through another forum on the system that WAS running phpBB.

It is phpBB that has the security flaw, and if your copy of phpBB was not upgraded to 2.0.11 (which only came out last month) then it is not safe and you are vunerable to this same attack.

What I want to know is, who has time to sit around and find these ways to hack stuff? Between work, forum reading, regular reading (books, etc.) and other stuff, I haven't the time

Go tell that to Chessmess.and I know BCU forum is phpbb style of board and the on the gamespy network as well.

That's part of the sad part of it.  Your "safe server" as it were, may not be safe at all.  You could do everything right to upgrade your phpBB to make it safe, and another phpBB on the same server that wasn't upgraded could result in your site being defaced.

I can't update mine because I am not hosting it a message board company is and they host  a lot.I  went and checked and mine is 2011 phpbb board and yes this board is also a phpbbb board but more than that it is a phpbbb fully modded board.I went to the main site of phpbbfm and there were post of people talking about their board are down or what Victory posted.
