That would be a collector car over 20 years more like 25 .The other being antique is about 60 to 75 I believe.I would go and see a car show if I were you guys.I started working on cars when I was 6.

I think as far as getting plates for an older car, doesn't it vary depending on where you live? I might be wrong, but I think where I live you can get an "antique" license plate when the vehicle is 50 years old. And I think there might be a "classic" plate for those at 25. I didn't start as early as age but I do like working on cars.
Steve, I don't know how close you are to Detroit, but maybe you would like the Woodward Cruise. It isn't your normal car show.
Antique doesn't apply to cars - as I said earlier. Cars are vintage , veteran or classic in UK. Over 20 years old usually means a wreck unless restored. Rust rules! And I only ever owned one car - decided I prefered bikes - part owned my first at 10. It used to be you didn't pay road tax on cars over 25 years old, but they stopped that a few years ago. This is turning into yet another waffle thread :bounce
Actually, I would definatly consider a Model T Ford (Circa 1920) an antique, and a '57 Chevy a classic. I prefer the '69 Shelby Mustang, and That my friends I just plain call Kick [censored]!

Like Juran said it is where you live.I was referring to my area or my Province and I like working on older cars mostly 50s.60s and 70s.The newer cars are a headache as you can't work on them in your own garage .

The upkeep of older cars is actually not that bad if you do the work yourself, which most people do. It's more satisfing to accomplish it yourself, rather than just drive what someone else did

My 1969 Olds 442 finally moved from my dad's garage to mine. Maybe now I can get some work done on it. I just had a guy stop by the other day wanting to know if I needed parts. He has almost every body part I need and is willing to sell them at a good price. Woohoo. Just wait till Spring gets here and the weather is warm enough for me to work on it.
