Star Trek XI -The Alternate Univers-"Movie Spoilers"-

Well Dear Friends ,
i had the Oppurtunity to see the new ST Movie today and let me tell you i have one word....wow!!

The CGI was off the scale and the storyline was very well done.
The Villian was a lad named "Nero" and he was every bit the villian in the movie, He was Romulan bad guy that got sucked intop a black hole along with his ship and spocks ship and he ends up in the 23rd cntury just as Kirk is born and Spock gets ther just as Kirk enters the Academy 25 years later.
And Nero and crew had strange weird looking Tatoos on their face that was totally contradictory to what we all know Romie to have.

Spock was true to his character as welll as James t Kirks charcter was surpridingly true to the Kirk we all now and Love, Mannerisms and Brashness were truelly there in Kirks chgarcater, even the way this new Kirk opened his mouth and left it open...LOL.


Sulu and Uhura and Scottie and Checkovand our beloved dr McCoy who also held true to chacter, but there was no Nurse Chapel.

in my opinion i feel they did a Great Job, although i feel scotties accent shudda been alot more Like Victors accent and not Like an Englishman gone wales...LOL


As far as Canon....dont expect that to be 100% in this New Movie Remember this is an Alternate Universe that was Created by the Villian Nero.

...Zach was Mighty generous in giving 80%80 canon wheras i give it at the Most 35% .

The very First Pilot Ep with Chris Pike NEVER happens in this alternate Universe, as well as the 1st and 2md eps with Shatners Kirk as well.
The Maiden Voyage starts with Kirk as 1st officer of the USS enterprise, and Capt is Pike, but swiftly ends with the Movie having Kirk as Cap at the end of the Day Hence both having "The Menagerie" with Both Caps never happening.

The Planet Vulcan is destroyed along with Spocks Momma therefore never having Momma Spock show up in Star Trek III or IV i cant remeber??, so Vulcan is gone forever in this flick.

I did Like however that at the end of the flick, Kirk has on His ToS Gold Shirt, and Scotty was sporting his Red shirt Fashion.

OMG the Original look of the Tos Enterprise is gone somewhat , the Nacelles are changed a ;itt;e and the Pylons look a little reminescent to the 1701-A Pylons also the rear of the ship is more narrow, and
the friggin Bridge looks like its lit up by 100k watt light bulbs., the ToS sounds of the ship were not there aas well but almost sounds that were kinda similiar were, The warning sound was diff not the same on the Bridge, but our beloved Margel Roddenberrys voice was there to still give life to the Enterprise, but this ship is def not canon and if AMT/ERTL makes a model of it im gonna scream....arrggghhhh my 1701,1701-A Enterprise look is gone!!!!!!
kinda looks like it has Enterprise A Conversion..

It was Nice to see Leonard Nimoy in this Flick (man hes gotten old..lol) and his role wasnt as short as Zach stated, but it was Nice to see him there as well as back in the saddle again.

It was very Odd to see Spock and Uhura swapping spit and tounge, being that in the ToS Movies, Scottie and Uhura were an item, and not Spock and Uhura.

is this Canon to me? no its an Alternate reality done very well, i give it a 10 outta 10 for storyline and effects and acting as well, but could they have brought back Kirk William Shatner?
Hell ya, its an alternate reality and what happened in Tos and thereafter never happened that way which leaves us with a sorta paradox and the Possibility that Kirk Never dies, this Movie leaves the Original Spock trapped in the past.

and basically is re-writing the Old timeline into a New timeline for a newer audience and fan base.
so like everything you knew about the ol timeline is errelebant and this is the new timeline according to JJ;

Kirks Daddy dies in the opening 10 min (man that was a sad [censored] scene i friggin cried) of the movie, but in canon, he never dies that way, so yes there was room for Shat.

some may argue this point but cmon, this did not hold true to the timeline that Gene Roddenberry created.

Instead it held true to what JJ Abrams stated here on tv in the States, "This Movie ws made for a new Audience and not for die hard trek fans"

Once again a Great Movie with a awesome story, but dont expect to Love Tos and the rest of the timeline and this new alternate universe timeline at the same time.
They both Contradict each other.
i put this Movie in my 3 place spot of Fav ST movies with Wrath of Khan at 1st place and TNG First contavt at 2nd and this 3rd while giving Nemesis a run for its Money

But then again...doesnt trek always do ttat at times...lOL

i cant wait for the Sequel. i loved this movie for its CGI and story and thats all

do i feel that Gene Roddenberry would have supported this Movie?
No way man, it changed alot of what he started, but i understand tho the powers tht be wanted a new look and feel and so thats what we are left with.New Look , feel and fan base, and Ol Star Trek Base gone by JJ..

once again if you are a die hard Trek fan that refuses to accept any alterations done to Trek after TNG then this is not the Movie for you, but if you are a New Sci Fi Or Trek Fan that Likes alternate realities and a diff change of pace, then this is th4 movie for you.

Th Trek World will never be the same....Literally

After finally getting the chance to watch the first episode on Free to air TV in Australia 3 weeks ago, I bought it on DVD and have now watched all 22 episodes....back to back....in one weekend. What a run!!!
I have enjoyed watching the actors characters evolve from humble beginings through to thought provoking people that have, at times, left me speechless and unprepeared for what happens next.
There is a charachter in "queer as folk dvd box set" that we can all relate to gay or straight and I believe that it is about time that America, which, tends to be technically very conservative has surprised me with the running of this series (which was made in Canada).
Gale Harold has bought life to his "Brian" and his relationship with a young Randy Harrison was thrilling to see portrayed. queer as folk 1-5 dvd Hal Sparks was amazing as the carer of the group and it was good to see someone as talanted as Sharon Gless come on board and portray her sense of warmth that no other actor would of be able carry for the length of the series and in to a second and maybe third.
The question remains for me, now that the the tears from the first series have dried, when and where will I be able to buy the second series onqueer as folk dvd as we are only upto episode three on TV here and I no it will be along wait between series
