Spike, if Chess doesn't care about the community how come the community is posting news on STGU and we are promoting the community's work? When was the last time STGU slandered the STG on the main page... or even in the forum?
Trick, I like you. Never had a problem with you at all when I was in the community big time. What I say does not go personally towards you-- in fact, I remember telling Vic you were the only sane and reasonable one out of the lot of us (Vic and me included.)
That said, and going only by what Vic has said, the removal of the STG from GameSpy had to have been somebody's doing who was at war with this site. Since there are two biggies, STG and STGU, some fan of STGU more than likely tipped GameSpy off on the issue (and GameSpy's own damn fault it was, IMHO, that Vic had to outsource his downloads). That is, of course, pure speculation, but the fingers do point to Chess or another big fan of the site. I never thought of you in an instant when the e-mail came, in fact. Like I said, you're the most reasonable person I've seen since Diern-Shaw.
And Trick-- it's very easy (and common) to put on the facade of helping the masses, when all you're doing is helping yourself. A small example is when a person donates a bag of dog food to a pet charity and puts in big print on the bag, "DONATED BY DORIS AND JEFF JONES." They're more interested in looking good than the help. |

diern~Shaw was an example to us all. Its a pity more of the Staples aren't around to look over the community.
I warned Vic not to attack me or my work and what does he do? He does exactly that, why?. I would guess he wants me to attack STG forum members and vice versa, well I am not going to do that. STG members have an opinion like anyone else and I am willing to listen and agreee/disagree. Vic on the other hand is posting his opinion like it is 100% fact.
Quote: Unlike STGU which has been basically bought out by Raven Night and Paramount
That one is true I love being a Paramount employ I get my own parking space now, it used to be Kelsey Grammar's!
Quote: The slow decline of trek gaming, all the whole STGU are saying that "trek gaming has never been better".
Vic since you quote us where is the original source? A link would be nice. The peak of trek gaming was 2000 when Armada and EF were released. Who was in charge then - Harry.
Quote: Harry Lang (who should have resigned after the abonimation known as S&S Dominion Wars) point blank REFUSING to post regularly in other fprums where the members question Star Trek Gaming and the MMORPG. Paramount has basically bought out STGU, not by money, but by the power hungry admin who runs the site. STGU is nothing more than a soap box for Harry Lang now.
Why didn't you ask him to resign then? Harry is also responsible for the games you have installed now Vic, how come you are playing them?
Quote: Well, ChessMess and the entire staff of stgu has spread LIES via email with regards to this site
Show all the emails then and let everyone see the evidence.
===========
Rather then letting Vic tell you what all the STGU staff members think about Trek Gaming or the MMORPG I will tell you what my opinion is.
Personally I am not interested in Online at the moment and I am sceptical if it will appeal to me. I am also reluctant to pay a monthly fee for a game that might only last a few years. But I am looking forward to the next game more, whatever that may be.
Vic I do take your comments seriously and as for abandoning the GameSpy gamers we will be addressing that. |

This first bit is long, but trust me, I have a point.
Recently I was getting into arguements with my party chief at work. He unilaterally decided that we were going to work 10-12 hour days, without consulting me or the rodman on the crew. Neither of us (myself or the rodman) liked the entire situation. I was the more vocal about it, as I have now a very active after work life (marriage counseling, dinners with the iin-laws and parents and such, as a lot of birthdays happen in late April and early May). He and I got into terrible arguements, and this was very disconcerting to me, as we had been such good friends before. We talked it out one day, and I came to realize what his problem with me was, as he had never told me what it was before. He thought I was slacking off, though he had told me to train the rodman for my position, as he was getting promoted. What we were doing was hardly work for three people, so I did stand around a lot, as the rodman already knew what he was doing. My party chief is a Mexican, and as such he has different values on work. Their idea is that work is primary, and you schedule your life around work. No set in stone plans on work days, work weekends if necessary, etc. Being the spoiled little brat I am, I have the opposite view: work around life, though I schedule life around work from 7 am to 4:30 pm weekdays. This culture difference is what caused our animosity for a time, and we discovered it and worked it out.
Vic is a Scotsman. Slightly more aggressive and more vocal about his thoughts than we Americans are used to. He'll tell you what he thinks and doesn't care if you like it or not. And, as a good salesman or captain, he'll say it as fact in order to make sure people don't question him. I for one never have a reason to question him. I never knew of any errors he made in the past. But we (all of us, STG and STGU alike) have to keep in mind we are both of different cultures, and what passes for common behavior in his society is complete rudeness and an act of war in ours.
It's the STAR TREK philosophy, man! And it's totally our scene! |
