Some people have been wondering about the line that i posted about the latinum and shops being completely reset.

The reset isnt a choice, it's forced since PHPBB 2 which is what this forum is based on is now nearing the end of it's update life. The new PHPBB 3 system named "olympus" is in it's beta stage and since this forum runs off phpbb as a base it means that PHPBBFM will move over to PHPBB 3 sometime this year.

This wont be an upgrade, its a complete new install from what i have heard and wont be an overwrite upgrade since the 2 systems are completely incompatible.

More news on the new forum will be posted as soon as we see what phpbb 3 has to offer.

So I guess that means it really wont matter if we buy ships it will all be wiped post count included is that right? ouch!

Right now i dont know. For all we know they might find a way to upgrade the existing PHPBB2 to PHPBB3 but its a long shot.

It appears to me that if continued support is to be forthcoming, the upgrade is the only way to get it. If it isn't done and something goes bad later, than support may not be available.
