What your views on Star Trek Gaming?

Since the STGD gets so many visitors I thought I would post this to get some information from the community.

How do you think the Star Trek Gaming licence has been handled?

Do you think Viacom should be held accountable for the popularity of Star Trek and according to Activision;

“By failing and refusing to continue to exploit and support the Star Trek franchise as it had promised, Viacom has significantly diminished the value of Star Trek licensing rights including the rights received by Activision"

or do you think neither is to blame because Star Trek needs a rest? Be interesting to know what everyone thinks.

I think the problem with trek gaming the the list of complete crap that got put out there.  What trek gaming needs is a good game to be released  that is not just bug infested.

I kind of would like to see another SFC game released but in stead of the formate what they been using now is something like combining it with something like freelancer and have the ablity to move in 3d.  have space combates be real time where some one can warp in and help you in the middle of combate.  but still have it where you can get territy and stuff.  it could really mkae for a good game where everything can expain and you can do lots of cool stuff.  we can dream cannt we

well i would suggest some sort of hybrid between BC and SFC series

This one thing I will say for now I think Viacom/Paramount should be doing all they can to make Trek gaming popular agian .I would be out promoting it  get publishers interested  and lowering the cost of licenses .
  If this can't be done then I think they need to think of haveing their own version of LucasArts  and having complete control over it  like Star Wars gaming .This has worked for Star Wars why not Trek  :?: I would regulary check in with Trek gaming fans to see what it is in a game they want.

   Yes I would like to see anther SFC game posssibly based on a different game engine and  1 set in the 23 C more towards canon with little exageration and the same with 24C game.

     This is all optianable if Viacom/Paramount wants it to happen and I would say I think  that Viacom should have more control over it than Paramount.They just have to get off thier duff and make it happen instead of the excuses they say they don't give Licenses out it would certianly lower the cost of gaming and they could seek some of the profits.Come on Viacom get it together

By me, tje best would be to make a game, that has the best elements from BC, EF, and SFC series. That would rock bigtime :mrgreen:

So the games that Activision put out, or before with the other publishers, do not come up to scratch with other games released at that time? Are there any that did?

but Age is right, Trek gaming needs something like Lucasarts for Star Wars to oversee and control it all, with some serious feedback from the fans THAT would give some great games that mean something instead of some dollars for the publishers

The only problem with that is that I do not think that they want to do that.

They would if they wanted to and if they looked at the revenue that  LucasArts is making which is more than Trek gaming.They would if they know which is right for them and Trek gaming fans .I wouldn't be surprised at what LucasArts is making in revenue and profits.

yeah, but look at SWG. LucasArts is getting rich quick off that game alone, via the pay to play crap. This is the reason that this new game is going for it. I personally think it's a load of crap, but what to I know? I'm just a guy that can't afford to scratch my [censored] muchless pay to play a game.

no, thats why i quit the game dominion, its an online thing similar but server side website script based.

I wasn't just referring to SWG I was referring to Star Wars on a whole in gameing .I couldn't afford to play every MMO out there as well .
