Direct X 10 and Star Trek older games

-----------------------------------

How would Direct x 10 play in older Star Trek games or would it be best to stick with XP and direct x90c?<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>

To be honest,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> I wouldn't take the risk.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.Just partition your HD,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> stick Vista and 10 on one.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.XP and 9 on the other.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.I've had several games that are barely a year old utterly fail to work with Vista <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>(and please don't start giving lectures on setting up compatibility settings.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>)<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> So I don't see it getting better for even older ones.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>

I would recommend not using DX10 or Vista at all,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> especially with all the flaws built into it.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>

I have not tried to partition a harddrive with Vista.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> as of right now I am not sure it is even possible with how Vista installs itsself on a harddrive,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> but normally if I were doing it with XP I would put the cd in and load up my computer form the CD,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> go to the menu on the CD and go from there.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>

You can partition with Vista <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>-<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> laptop im using now is.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
When you go to install,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> change the amount of space you use to whatever you want.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> If you ca install XP first from there in the usual way.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
Then install Vista on the other part of the HD.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> From there you will need to download the boot manager for Vista <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>-<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> install that and run it.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
Restart your comp and it will ask you which copy of windows to boot.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>-<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> It will do that every time you boot up.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> Each time,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> just highlight whichever system it is,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> and you are away!<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>

on motherboards from 2001 and to date,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> there is a boot option installed in the bios chip that allows you to choose which drive you desire to use.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
Best bet is to install a second hard drive and make it win xp and the other win vista.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
when you boot your pc,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> at startup tap either the F5,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> F8 button or F11,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> or whatever button it is that allows the boot option menu to appear and a boot option dos window will apper,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> select whatever drive you have with the OS you so dsire,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> and Voila!<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>!<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>!<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>!<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
its easier and safer to do it this way,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> then to try and partition your HDD and screw things up.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
